The March of Time.

When we were kids, we always couldn't wait to grow up. But when we actually did, we realised all too soon that time has left its marks on us, and that no one, not any of us here on this planet, can stop the march of time.
The perennial question of 'then what?' comes to mind at some point in all our lives. Is any one life really so significant in the great scheme of things? If we lived our entire lives only caring about ourselves, will anyone remember us 10, 20 or 50 years after we're gone? Sometimes I really do wonder. Life is so fleeting and short, yet many, or perhaps most of us, spend a large portion of it mindlessly following societal conventions and serving as a tiny cog in an industrial or corporate mechanism. But without the parts, the mechanisms which support and make up society would collapse. This then poses to us all, a Catch-22 situation.... and then what?
Well, just food for thought.
